Santa Fe is located about an hour’s drive north of Albuquerque, New Mexico. While Santa Fe does have a small airport, most guests will probably be traveling through Albuquerque Sunport (ABQ), which has abundant rental car options as well as a shuttle direct to Santa Fe.
An important note that folks often don’t realize - Santa Fe is at a lofty 7,200 ft elevation above sea level, and it can take some time to acclimate! In order to fully enjoy the weekend’s festivities, we recommend coming in Thursday or Friday and staying as long as you’d like - and give yourself a little buffer to get used to that high desert air. 🌵🏜🌬
Groome Transportation has 16 routes daily between Santa Fe and ABQ Airport. At $46 one-way or $92 roundtrip (pre-tax, per guest), it offers a parking-free option that takes about 2 hours in either direction.
If you choose to go by shuttle, we highly recommend booking your reservation/time slot in advance. This allows you to designate pick up at your hotel vs having to travel to a central loading point.
We personally have found renting a car out of ABQ to be the quickest and most economic way to get to Santa Fe - especially if you are traveling with a guest or more.
ABQ has a quick bus from the terminal to their large rental car center. From there, it’s an easy 52 miles out to SF (and avoids the stop-and-start aspect of the shuttle).
